A One-Man Shop in Cresco, Iowa

Metal Medics Machine Works is a small, independent shop on Kings Road just outside Cresco, Iowa. Every job that comes through the door is handled by the same pair of hands from start to finish — there is no service writer, no rotating crew, and nothing gets passed down the line. When you call, you talk to the person who will actually be doing the work.

That setup keeps the shop honest about what it takes on. Some jobs are a quick weld and a handshake. Others are a vintage bike that sits on the bench for weeks while parts are chased down. Either way, you get a straight answer up front about cost and timeline rather than an estimate written by someone who has never seen the piece.

Powersports Parts & Accessories

As a Western Power Sports dealer, the shop can source parts and accessories for most major powersports brands — motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, side-by-sides, and snowmobiles. That covers OEM and aftermarket replacement parts, performance upgrades, riding gear and protective apparel, and the oils, chemicals, and maintenance supplies that keep a machine running through an Iowa winter.

Ordering through a local shop means someone checks the fitment before the box ships. If you are not certain which part number fits your year and model, call with the VIN and it gets sorted out before money changes hands. See the full product and service list for details.

Welding, Fabrication & Metal Repair

General welding and fabrication work makes up a steady share of the shop's schedule. That includes structural repairs on trailers and implements, custom brackets and mounts, patching and reinforcing worn or cracked components, and one-off fabrication for projects that do not have an off-the-shelf answer. Farm and shop equipment repair is routine work here — broken equipment in the middle of a season is not a problem that waits politely.

Vintage Japanese Motorcycles

The specialty of the shop is maintenance, repair, and restoration of vintage Japanese motorcycles — the Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki machines from the era when they were built to be worked on. This is patient work: carburetor rebuilds and synchronization, sorting out brittle decades-old wiring harnesses, engine teardowns and rebuilds, and full frame-up restorations.

These bikes reward someone willing to take the time to do it properly, and they punish shortcuts. If you have a project that has stalled out, or a running bike that needs someone who understands points ignition and cable-operated everything, get in touch.
